Whole Wheat Waffles have definitely caught on in our home, and are becoming our Saturday morning staple. In the past, we used a boxed version which weren’t too bad, but being able to make these homemade takes the same amount of time, and the cost savings really adds up…it just makes more sense!
Making these whole wheat waffles is actually a fun job, especially when you can get your family involved. It’s all about making memories and sharing some cooking tips to the little human that’s by your side.
Who doesn’t like waffles?!? I mean come on! They are so delicious – never mind them being made with whole wheat flour, and so much better than a typical boxed version.

Ingredients
- 1 3/4 cup Whole Wheat Flour
- 1/2 cup Cornstarch
- 2 tsp Baking Powder
- 1 tsp Baking Soda
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1/4 cup Sugar
- 2 Eggs
- 2 cups Buttermilk
- 1 1/2 tsp Pure Vanilla Extract
- 7 tbsp Unsalted Butter - Melted
Instructions
- Whole wheat flour, cornstarch, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and sugar.
- Mix using a whisk to fulling incorporate all ingredients.
- Buttermilk, eggs, vanilla extract.
- Mix well.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the bowl of dry ingredients that you just prepared.
- Mix well.
- Add melted butter and mix.
- Set aside for a couple of minutes or until the waffle iron is hot.
- Spray waffle iron with cooking spray and pour batter.
- Allow the waffle to cook for about 3 minutes or until a nice golden color is formed.
- Remove from iron and repeat.
